Kids Friendly Restaurants in Bali with Playgrounds

We’ve reached that age where catching up with friends often means meeting their little ones too, and sometimes the whole family comes along for the ride! Haha. So yes, even though none of us at Kata Bella have kids of our own, we kinda know a thing or two about kids-friendly spots now, especially when it comes to places to eat.

And among the many kids-friendly restaurants in Bali, we’ve picked the ones with playgrounds, because the little bosses deserve to have some fun too, while the parents yap away, hehe. And with many places in Bali blessed with outdoor space, the kids can run around, burn off some energy, instead of being glued to a gadget at the table.

So, whether you’re planning your next Bali trip with the family or living here and looking for somewhere new to bring the kids, here are a few spots worth saving for your next family day out.

La Loba – Denpasar

If you’re after a family-friendly place to eat, Denpasar is worth exploring. It’s less touristy than the other popular neighbourhoods like Seminyak or Canggu. One spot to add to your list is La Loba Oase Rasa, a restaurant designed with families in mind. There’s plenty of space for everyone to spread out, including a large lawn with an outdoor playground, and a semi indoor playground too. As for the menu, it’s extensive, with pretty much all the Indonesian favourites you could possibly crave.

Tiny Cafe – Canggu

This place is pretty much heaven for both kids and parents! The little ones can let their imaginations run wild in a tiny playhouse, complete with adorable little sections for a kitchen, shop and laundry room. Best of all, it’s all within sight of the main dining area, so parents can enjoy their meal while keeping an eye on the kiddos. And there’s another little detail that we find too cute; a tiny Alice in Wonderland-esque door leading to the toilet, making us wish we could be kids again.

Milk and Madu – Canggu

Many of you probably know this place already, but if it’s your first time, it’s a lovely spot for breakfast, lunch or dinner. There are two locations in Canggu, and both have a playground for the little guests. The menu also has plenty of kids-friendly options like pancakes, meatballs, burgers, and milkshakes. It’s usually buzzing with families, especially on weekends, and the atmosphere gets even livelier when there’s live music. A nice all-rounder for a meal out with the whole family.

Tarra Belle – Uluwatu

This one takes “kids-friendly” to the next level with its very own dedicated kids club. It’s free for dining guests, but there are also classes and activities you can sign the little ones up for at reasonable prices. With both indoor and outdoor play areas and attentive staff keeping an eye on the kids, the parents can enjoy a little breather, too. The restaurant menu keeps things simple with quick and easy options like wraps, sandwiches and salad bowls.

La Naya – Seminyak

We love this Japan-inspired spot, and it even made it onto our Seminyak restaurant list! Aside from the good food, the place itself is lovely, with bright, pretty interior. The kids’ playground is a nice bonus too, making it a spot that both little ones and grown-ups can enjoy. A few things on the menu that everyone will love are the onigiri and sando, but whatever you do, save some room for their kakigori!

Shooters – Petitenget

This is a playground for the bigger kids, and even bigger kids (aka us adults, hehe). Usually, we find a place to eat while the kids play, but here, we go somewhere to play and then we nibble. The whole family can get in on the fun with activities like mini golf, giant jenga, foosball and basketball, plus axe throwing for the grown-ups. And when you’ve worked up an appetite from all that playing, tuck into some good old comfort food, like pizzas and burgers.

Shotgun Social – Sanur

Sanur itself is a pretty family-friendly neighbourhood, so you’ll find plenty of places where the whole family can hang out. One of the most popular spots for a family gathering is Shotgun Social, with its big lawn and spacious playground where the kids can run around. For the parents, aside from the nice dining area, there’s a bar serving craft beer, so you can unwind and enjoy a little grown-up time while the kids have their fun.

Lamis Resto – Sanur

Another Sanur gem that comes recommended by the locals. Lamis Resto has a spacious seating area and a big playground, complete with a trampoline, bicycles, a sandpit and even a mini obstacle course. It’s also a popular spot for events, from kids’ birthday parties to family gatherings. To top it all off, the food and drinks are reasonably priced, making it an easy choice for a family time.

Of course, dining out with little ones might not always be the most relaxing experience (we imagine there’s a lot of thinking and negotiating involved, hehe), but at least a playground gives them somewhere to put all that energy to good use. And who knows, you might even get to finish your meal while it’s still warm. Hope you find this list useful and thank you for reading!

Japanese Restaurants in Bali for Casual Dining and Special Celebrations

Japanese Restaurants in Bali If I could only eat one type of cuisine for the rest of my life, I think I’d pick Japanese. I just love Japanese food, and I love how there’s pretty much everything you could want rice, noodles, salads, soups, grilled and fried stuff, red meat, seafood, things served hot, things served cold, aagghhh, there's something for every mood and craving. I’ve never actually been to Japan (yet!), and it’s definitely on my dream travel list, but luckily, Japanese food is pretty easy to find wherever you are - including right here in Bali. So until that Japan trip finally happens, I’ll happily eat my way through the Japanese restaurants here. I’ve picked a few restaurants that I think are great for both everyday dining and special occasions. Hope you like them! I’ve been coming here with then fam since I was little, and the owner was, and still is - always there to greet us. The place itself has barely changed since I was a kid, which is probably why it feels so nostalgic every time I come back. They have pretty much every Japanese comfort food you could crave from sushi, bento, ramen, teppanyaki, everything. Take even inspired my parents to open their own little ramen warung in Yogyakarta, hehe. So yes, this place is pretty special to us. 📍Google Map: TAKE Authentic Japanese Cuisine Image credit: Take Instagram You may also like this article: The Ultimate Canggu Restaurant List by Kata Bella Mister Wasabi Legian’s dining scene is still alive and kicking, ladies and gentlemen! Mister Wasabi is one of the latest additions bringing fresh energy to the neighbourhood, with a creative Japanese menu that leans into the luxe side of things. Upstairs is a sleek Japanese restaurant centred around an open kitchen, while downstairs takes a more casual izakaya approach, with sharing plates and playful cocktails. Menu highlights include Japanese fried rice with wagyu simo striploin, foie gras and caviar, as well as a must-try chirashizushi. 📍Google Map: Mister Wasabi Image credit: Mister Wasabi Instagram Rayjin Teppanyaki Rayjin has three locations in Bali - Seminyak, Ubud and Jimbaran, although from what I can remember, I’ve only been to the Seminyak one. It’s a smart-casual spot, so it’s a little pricier than your everyday Japanese joint, but I’d say it’s worth it. A few must-tries are the beef saikoro steak and, my personal favourite, the chicken nanban with garlic rice. If you’re planning to go for the teppanyaki, make sure to book ahead as they have allocated seating times, and it can get busy even during low season. 📍Google Map: Rayjin Teppanyaki, Rayjin Ubud, Rayjin Sidewalk Jimbaran Image credit: Rayjin Instagram Okuzono This spacious Japanese restaurant has a fun interior, with little booths that almost feel like you’re dining in a treehouse. The menu is extensive, with plenty of food and drink options. And when I say extensive, I mean it - they even have quite a selection for vegetarians. I’d say it’s best to come with a group so you can order a bunch of things and try a bit of everything. It’s one of those places that works just as well for a casual dining as it does for special celebrations. 📍Google Map: Okuzono Japanese Dining Bali Image credit: Okuzono Instagram You may also like this article: Restaurants and Cafes in Ubud with Rice Field Views Daimyo If you’re looking for somewhere a little fancy for Japanese dinner, maybe you’ll like Daimyo. They specialise in premium cuts of meat cooked to perfection, but also have a seafood set menu if you’re more into seafood. Aside from the main protein, they have all the usual Japanese favourites on the side, like chawan mushi, wakame salad, karaage and katsu. The elegant interiors give it a bit of a metropolitan feel, perfect for one of those rare occasions when I feel like dressing up instead of my usual “Bali uniform” of tank tops, shorts and sandals. 📍Google Map: Daimyo Bali Image credit: Daimyo Bali Instagram Tsune The Kata Bella team found this little gem in Sanur. They do sushi a little differently here - instead of the usual sushi train, they have a sushi boat! Very cute. The vibe is smart casual, and there’s also an outdoor seating area, which is a nice touch. The menu is packed all the Japanese favourites you’ll want to try, so it’s very easy to over-order, but make sure you save some room for their crème brûlée. It’s the perfect grand finale! 📍Google Map: Tsune Japanese Restaurant Sanur by Wonderspace Image credit: Tsune Instagram Yume This is a good one to keep on your Denpasar dining list. They have all your Japanese favourites, from beautifully presented sushi and sashimi to grilled dishes and an omakase menu if you’re feeling a little fancy. The space has an elegant yet relaxed Izakaya-style feel, with sake, Japanese-inspired cocktails, and wine to pair with your meal - or simply enjoy as an after-dinner drink. 📍Google Map: Yume Japanese Dining Image credit: Yume Instagram Ok, hope you find this list useful. I have covered a few of Bali’s neighbourhoods, so hopefully there’s a Japanese restaurant here that makes it onto your next dinner list. And then, all that’s left is deciding what to order. Aesthetic Cafes in Ubud: 7 Beautiful Spots Worth Adding to Your Itinerary

Aesthetic cafes in Ubud. I rarely find myself heading to Ubud, but whenever I do, I’m always reminded that one day is never quite enough. Aside from its lush landscapes and slower pace, Ubud has a way of offering experiences that feel fresh and different from other Bali neighbourhoods - from wandering through art spaces and rice field trails to joining creative workshops, chasing hidden waterfalls, or simply finding a quiet corner surrounded by nature. And then...the coffee shops! So many beautiful cafes to explore, so little time, and (sadly) only so much space in my stomach, haha. With earthy interiors, jungle views, and that unmistakable Ubud aesthetic that just hits different, every coffee stop feels like a little experience of its own - from the way sunlight filters through rattan lampshades to how your matcha latte somehow looks even better against a perfect terracotta backdrop. Here are a few of those aesthetic cafes in Ubud that are worth adding to your list. The vibe is warm, humble, and inviting. The outdoor area is a lovely spot to slow down, enjoy the surroundings, and just take your time. You might come here because it’s a pretty place (and yes, it’s very photogenic), but you’ll probably end up staying for the freshly brewed coffee and that cosy, laid-back feeling. Penestanan, Sayan, Kecamatan Ubud Image credit: Kopi Pangeran Instagram Cafe Lilu From the outside, it has a relaxed bohemian look, and walking in almost feels like you're visiting a friend's house. The inside space is homely, with natural touches and a tatami seating area that makes you want to kick back and stay awhile. And since it's located near the Monkey Forest, don't be surprised if a cheeky monkey pops up at the window to see what's on your plate, hehe. Cafe Lilu | 📍Jl. Lazy Cats Cafe has that effortlessly cool Ubud charm - a rustic interior with high ceilings, unfinished walls, and mismatched sofas that come together perfectly. The interior feels cosy, artistic, and a little bit quirky, like an old, slightly abandoned living room that's somehow comfortable to spend a couple of hours in, slowly sipping on a long black with a small bite. Lazy Cats Cafe | 📍Jl. Raya Ubud No.11, Ubud, Kecamatan Ubud Image credit: Lazy Cats Cafe Instagram This is Bali This place feels like stepping into a dreamy little doll house with its all-white interior and playful mezzanine seating. It’s not a big space, but it’s full of character. Everything feels thoughtfully designed, from the cosy layout to the little details that make the experience special. Even the glassware and plates they use add to the cute, whimsical atmosphere, making the whole place feel like a carefully curated little world. This is Bali | 📍 Jl. Goutama No.2, Ubud, Kecamatan Ubud Image credit: This is Bali Instagram Jinny's Garden Tucked away down one of the little alleys off Jalan Goutama, Jinny's Garden is a cute semi-outdoor cafe surrounded by lush greenery, with warm, inviting lighting and a relaxed atmosphere. It may be small, but it's cosy and there's upstairs seating area as well. The menu offers plenty of Western dishes to choose from, though unfortunately there aren't any desserts. Jinny's Garden | 📍Jl. Goutama, Ubud, Kecamatan Ubud Sacra Stuja If you're after a place with that laid-back Ubud vibe, this is the spot. It feels calm from the outside, and once you step in, you'll find a cosy bohemian space that almost feels like a giant tent, with plenty of natural touches and lush greenery adding to its charm. If you've got your furry friend with you, you'll be happy to know it's pet-friendly too. Sacra Stuja | 📍 Nyuh Kuning Rd Desa Adat No.77x, Mas, Ubud Image credit: Sacra Stuja Instagram Clear Cafe You step inside, but then somehow find yourself in the “outdoors”, hehe. Clear Cafe's open-air space is surrounded by lush greenery, with a peaceful fish pond creating the calming sound of flowing water. Filled with natural elements, warm textures, and plenty of plants, the whole place feels like a hidden garden escape where you can slow down and enjoy a quiet moment in Ubud. Clear Cafe | 📍 Jl. Hanoman No.8, Ubud, Kecamatan Ubud Image credit: Clear Cafe Instagram Note to self: spend more time in Ubud. While the aesthetic spots are definitely worth exploring, there’s something special about being surrounded by this greener, slower side of Bali again. Ubud has grown and changed over the years, but somehow the feeling I remember from when I was little is still there - the calm energy, and that little bit of magic in the air. Hopefully, it stays this way for many years to come. And just like my other restaurant lists, this one will keep growing. The Kata Bella troop will continue exploring, discovering, and finding more hidden gems to share with you along the way.

SKAI Bar & Grill in Legian: Same Soul, Refined Experience

The good old Legian never dies. I spent so much of my childhood in this neighbourhood that walking back through it now feels a bit like flipping through an old photo album; familiar corners, same vibe, and that nice feeling that not everything has changed. It’s comforting, in a way, to see some of the same restaurants still around - quietly standing the test of time.  And if you know, you know…some places, they evolve, but never lose their charm. Not trying too hard, not chasing trends - just naturally keeping up, staying relevant in their own way, while holding on to what made people fall in love with them in the first place. One of them is SKAI Bar & Grill, formerly known as SKAI Beach Club. And yes, as the name suggests, the concept’s had a bit of a glow-up. The heart of it never goes anywhereOpen Flame, Bold Flavours, and Signature Cuts You may also like this article: Bali Home Bakeries to Sweeten Your Celebrations The heart of it never goes anywhere Don’t worry though, the iconic beachfront pool and those outdoor seats we all love are still very much there (I know, some memories are just too good to let go of). It still carries that same laid-back, by-the-sea energy that made it such a favourite in the first place. But now, there’s a cosy indoor extension with 34 seats - perfect if you’re into that open-flame, grill-side kind of experience that SKAI Bar & Grill is leaning into. There’s also a new terrace that low-key feels like a secret garden - very much an evolution of the OG SKAI vibe. Think floor-to-ceiling windows, lush greenery everywhere, and laser-cut screens that look dreamy during golden hour (warm, dappled light kind of situation). The seating is all hand-woven in soft driftwood greys and sandy taupes, tying everything back to the natural beachy colour palette (my bright pink outfit would really pop here! hehe). So yeah, anyway - new space, same soul. The new seating area that feels warm and homely You may also like this article: Brunch in Bali - Rediscovering Legian through Farmer’s Daughter Open Flame, Bold Flavours, and Signature Cuts Now onto the food - because this is the even more interesting part. Picture all that calming seaside ambience paired with their heroes on the menu; tender cuts with za’atar, citrusy sumac, a touch of smoky paprika. Simple, but so good. Add in the sea breeze, some greenery, and soft lantern light overhead… it’s seaside dining, in Bali, but with a slice of Eastern Mediterranean twist. At the heart of it all is an open kitchen. You get to watch the chefs fully in their element, working the fire and charcoal. There’s something quite satisfying about seeing it all happen right in front of you. This is where SKAI’s signature cuts come in; Angus tenderloin, grass-fed MB3+, pork chop Pata Negra Ibérico, and more. And if you’re someone who likes to choose your cut properly, you’ll appreciate this: the dry-aging chamber is now on display too, beautifully laid out on rustic maple boards. Take your time, have a look, and pick exactly what you’re in the mood for. The kind of spread that feeds the soul All in all, SKAI Bar & Grill, and this new expansion, is such a lovely addition to Legian’s dining scene. It’s one of those spots that feels familiar, but in the best, refreshed kind of way - like coming back to something you love, but better than you remember. And the fact that it’s located at Padma Resort Legian, a resort that holds so many beautiful memories for me, just makes it even more special to me! 🫶🏻✨ SKAI BAR & GRILL🥩 Cuisine: Eastern Mediterranean💰 Price range: From 250K/ person⏰ Opening hour: Mon-Thu, 12pm-11pm/ Fri-Sat, 12pm-12am, Sun, 12.30pm-11pm📍Address: Jl.
