Sometimes you go on holiday and make it your mission to try all the local food, eat at all the new places, and be as adventurous as possible. But every now and then, you just want something easy and familiar, like a good burger. There’s something comforting about a soft bun, a juicy patty, some cheese and sauce…hmm yum yum!

Lucky for you, Bali is a place where you can pretty much find whatever kind of meal you’re craving. So if you’ve had your fill of local food and are craving a little comfort, here are some of our usual burger spots in Bali.

Daeng Burger

They made our list of cheap eats in Canggu for a reason – the burgers are genuinely good, but they’re also pretty affordable, which is probably why this has become one of our most frequent burger spots, hehe. And wile the burgers are definitely the star, their paninis are worth trying too, and we’re also fans of the chips. They have branches in Umalas, Canggu, Uluwatu, Kedungu and Ubud, so there’s a good chance you’ll find one close to you.

Pit Stop

Pit Stop and I go way back. From late-night munchies after a night out, to my brief vegetarian era (yes, I tried it once and their chickpea and tempe burger did not disappoint!) And now back to my meat-eating era, I’ve pretty much worked my way through their entire burger menu – except the lamb and the beef brisket, simply because I’m not a lamb person and I haven’t had the chance to try the brisket burger – but I’m sure they’re good. Ps. they’re open 24 hours!

Five Monkeys

I used to go to Five Monkeys a lot when I worked in Legian – but I always went for their chilli cheese fries, not the burgers. That was until one day I had lunch there with a friend and decided to give their burger a try, and it was actually really good! I later found out that they have branches in other major cities in Indonesia. The one in Legian has now moved to Kuta, and there’s another outlet in Bali’s biggest shopping centre, Living World.

Grill’d

This Australian burger chain keeps things light without compromising on flavour. The burgers taste just like the ones in Australia in my opinion, and you can customise your order with your choice of bun, including a gluten-free option. There are also chicken and vegan burgers, plus fried chicken for when you’re extra hungry.

Mr. Smash Burger

As the name suggests, this place does literally smashed patties, stacked into a proper burger. You can choose from sizes S to XXL, depending on how many patties you’re feeling, all tucked into a soft brioche bun. And just like any good burger joint should, they’ve got all the extras for a full indulgence; crispy chips, fried chicken and milkshakes. With five locations around Bali, it’s an easy one to add to your burger list.

This one came highly recommended by our friends, and maybe you’ll want to come very hungry. Especially if, like me, you have a small appetite, because their burgers are massive. And if you’re one of those people who love putting chips in their burger, they’ve got exactly that, haha! If you’re not in the mood for a classic patty, they also do an 18-hour smoked beef brisket burger, which is definitely worth a try.

Bo$$man

You probably know this one already, but it just has to be mentioned. Their menu has pretty much everything you could want – from smashed burgers and classic patty burgers to chicken and fish burgers, plus hot dog. Whether you’re just a little snacky, moderately hungry, or veryyyy hungry, they’ve got you covered.

Beloved Italian Restaurant in Canggu, Luigis Enters a New Era I remember it being part of my younger years in Bali, back when it was just a small space with a little outdoor lawn. It was my go-to for an impromptu pizza. Canggu was quieter, slower, and felt completely different from what it is today. Almost 10 years later, a lot has changed - in Bali, and Canggu in particular. But somehow, Luigis still feels like Luigis, if you know what I mean. It’s been the backdrop for so many late dinners, first dates, bocce games, and random nights. No fuss, no dress code, no trying too hard. Just good pizza, strong drinks, good people, and plenty of memories. Now, Luigis is stepping into a new chapter - like all good businesses should. The place has had a little refresh, but it still feels like the same place we know and love. The Italian-American spirit is still there, inspired by New York slice shops, old-school red sauce joints, and those neighbourhood spots where the personality is just as important as what’s on your plate. As Chef Lorenzo puts it, the idea was never to change what people love about Luigi’s, but to sharpen it. Haha. So yes, even though none of us at Kata Bella have kids of our own, we kinda know a thing or two about kids-friendly spots now, especially when it comes to places to eat. And among the many kids-friendly restaurants in Bali, we’ve picked the ones with playgrounds, because the little bosses deserve to have some fun too, while the parents yap away, hehe. And with many places in Bali blessed with outdoor space, the kids can run around, burn off some energy, instead of being glued to a gadget at the table. So, whether you’re planning your next Bali trip with the family or living here and looking for somewhere new to bring the kids, here are a few spots worth saving for your next family day out. Best of all, it’s all within sight of the main dining area, so parents can enjoy their meal while keeping an eye on the kiddos. There are two locations in Canggu, and both have a playground for the little guests. The menu also has plenty of kids-friendly options like pancakes, meatballs, burgers, and milkshakes. It’s usually buzzing with families, especially on weekends, and the atmosphere gets even livelier when there’s live music. Aside from the good food, the place itself is lovely, with bright, pretty interior. The kids’ playground is a nice bonus too, making it a spot that both little ones and grown-ups can enjoy. Usually, we find a place to eat while the kids play, but here, we go somewhere to play and then we nibble. The whole family can get in on the fun with activities like mini golf, giant jenga, foosball and basketball, plus axe throwing for the grown-ups. Sazón Bali : Spanish flavours in Canggu

Spanish Restaurant in Canggu Bali is such a melting pot of cultures, and as a food lover, I feel like the dining options here are endless. I love Indonesian and Balinese food, of course - but I also enjoy trying dishes from other countries. One of the things I really appreciate about living in Bali is that I can explore so many different cuisines without having to travel far. Not long ago, a friend of mine from Regent Bali Canggu invited me to the grand opening of one of their new restaurants, Sazón. They gave us a little sneak peek of what’s on the menu during the party, and it made me want to come back for more. And I did! I went back to Sazon, and here’s a little story about my evening filled with delicious Spanish food and good company. I rarely eat Spanish food and, I gotta be honest, I didn’t know much beyond the famous paella. But Chef Javier passionately walked us through each dish as he served our dinner, from starters to dessert - and I soaked it all up like story time on a plate. I enjoyed every bite. Turns out Gilda is a 1946 black-and-white romance film starring Rita Hayworth. So, why was the Gilda on my plate marinated tuna with olives and peppers? hehe. Well, Gilda is a classic Spanish tapa named after the film because, just like the movie, it’s bold, salty, and full of spicy flavour. It was a lovely intro to the courses that followed. Pa Amb Tomàquet As simple as it looks, and as basic as it sounds on the menu; bread, tomato, ham - this dish tasted like so much more than just those three elements. I’m not exactly sure where all the flavour came from, but wow, my taste buds and tummy did a little happy dance. The ham isn’t your average ham, it’s Jamón Ibérico, a premium cured pork from Spain. I could’ve easily eaten a whole plate of it, but there was more food on the way, and I had to save some room in my tiny stomach. Croquetas The name pretty much says it all. We have an Indonesian version called kroket - pronounced the same. We tried the one filled with mushrooms, and it was deliciosa! At this point, I started to regret my fitted outfit choice! Haha, I probably left Sazón looking three months pregnant (with food baby, of course). Okay, back to the dish - I’m a big seafood fan, especially scallops, and everything in this one worked perfectly together: dill, cucumber, almonds. Patatas Bravas Potatoes - but make it fancy, with aioli and spicy tomato. I’ve always loved potatoes in any form, but I didn’t know there was another kind to love… until this. Ibérico Grilled Pork & Mushroom Paella And here it is - the main event and the highlight of my evening: the paella. Rich, comforting, and full of flavour, this dish perfectly combines tender Ibérico grilled pork with earthy mushrooms. Even though it’s not something I eat often, it tasted very comforting and somehow familiar. Santiago Cake, Orange Curd & Toasted Meringue I’m a dessert person, and I believe there’s always room for dessert—but we were heading into a serious food coma, so we decided to share the Santiago cake, a Spanish almond cake. It’s flourless and moist with a sponge-like texture—not too sweet, with a lovely hint of citrus from the orange curd. All in all, Sazón is a great addition to Canggu’s buzzing dining scene. Whether you’re into Spanish food or just here for a tasty night out like me, they serve up good vibes and even better dishes. Their tagline, “más amor, por favor” (more love, please), totally fits - you can tell everything’s made with a lot of love. Can’t wait to go back and try even more from the menu.
