Rainy Season Guide: Indoor Things to Do in Bali Image

Indoor things to do in Bali

Unlike countries with four seasons, Indonesia has only two: the wet season and the dry season. Both come with a tropical climate in most parts of the country, so expect warm temperatures alllll yearrr longgg, hehe. In Bali, the rainy season typically begins around October or November and lasts until February or March.

While some travellers see the rain as a holiday hurdle, others welcome it as a chance to enjoy Bali at a slower pace, with cooler temperatures and a different kind of charm. And there are still plenty to do, even when it’s pouring. From cosy cafes to creative workshops, here are some fun indoor activities to add to your Bali itinerary this rainy season.

A spa escape

Imagine this: rain pattering outside while you’re tucked away in a cosy spa, surrounded by the soothing scent of frangipani or lemongrass. A Balinese gamelan plays softly in the background as you surrender to the goodness of a traditional Balinese massage, ahhh so good. And with many spas in Bali being very affordable, one spa day might turn into two, three, or who knows? When in Bali, let the pampering begin!

A little sweat between feasts

Holidays usually come with a little weight gain, but how about some muscle gains this time? hehe. Apart from endless cafes and restaurants, Bali has plenty of lovely gyms and studios offering everything from yoga and Pilates to HYROX, boxing, and MMA. Whether you’re a fitness buff or just fancy trying something new, squeeze in a workout before heading off for that well-deserved buffet brunch..or lunch…or dinner…or all of them!

Recovery day

Rainy days are a pretty good excuse to take a break, especially if your body could use one too (after all the workouts!). Many gyms in Bali have recovery facilities like saunas, ice baths, steam rooms and pools. Some even have hammams, magnesium pools, infrared saunas and jacuzzis, while there are also wellness centres dedicated entirely to recovery! You’d be surprised how easily you can spend a whole afternoon just…relaxing.

Make the most of your stay

Very often, we pick a dreamy resort or villa for our holiday, only to enjoy it for a few hours because we’re too busy exploring outside. But if you’re visiting Bali during the wet season, take it as a sign to slow down and actually enjoy the place you’re staying in. Snuggle up in that comfy bed, catch up on your favourite shows, order some comfort food from room service, or simply spend some quality time with your family or friends. If you’re in Bali with kids, here are some ideas of hotels with family rooms to check out.

Rainy season doesn’t have to ruin your Bali holiday. If anything, it’s a good excuse to slow down, try something new, treat yourself to a massage, discovering new cafes, or simply enjoy that lovely accommodation you booked. Sure, you might have to shuffle your plans around a little (and keep an umbrella handy, hehe), but Bali still has plenty to offer when the skies turn grey. So, don’t let the rain stop you from having a good time! Hope you find this article useful, and happy holiday!

Most are attached to or located near little strawberry shops selling all things strawberry, from jam and juice to milkshakes and pancakes. You can also bring home a box of freshly picked strawberries and support the local farmers. Proof that hiking isn't just for grown-ups! If it's your kids' first time, Mount Batur is a popular choice for beginner hikers, standing at 1,717 metres above sea level. The round-trip hike usually takes around 3 to4 hours, depending on your pace and route. The sunrise from the summit is unbeatable. Just make sure your kids are up for the early start and the climb. You can start at Legian Beach and follow the beach pathway towards the airport, stopping for a fresh coconut along the way. Or wrap up your walk at Beachwalk and grab a quick bite. Sanur is another favourite for a leisurely stroll by the beach, and Niti Mandala park in Renon is a nice option too. Or walk along the iconic Campuhan Ridge Walk in Ubud. Image source: Unsplash A trip to traditional market Taking the kids to a traditional market is a fun little adventure in itself! They can discover all sorts of tropical fruits they might have never seen before, like mangosteens, snake fruits, rose apples and custard apples. There’s so much to see, smell and taste, with colourful piles of fresh produce, and friendly vendors selling their daily goods. Let them ask questions, pick a fruit to try or guess what’s inside before cutting it open. They might discover a new favourite snack along the way. Image source: Unsplash Picnic at the Botanical Garden Pack some snacks, grab a picnic mat and head to the Bali Botanic Garden in Bedugul. With plenty of greenery, space for the kids to run around and cooler mountain air, it’s a lovely spot to spend a few hours outdoors without getting too hot. it gets even cooler during what we call "Bali winter", around June to August. 📍Google Map: Bali Botanical Garden Image credit: Bali Website Kite flying on the beach Here’s a fun way to get the kids off their screens for a while: kite flying! It’s a popular pastime in Indonesia, especially on breezy beach days. But, here's the plot twist - getting the wind just right takes a bit of practice, so expect plenty of running around, a few tangles and lots of laughs along the way, hehe. But once your kite finally takes off, it's such a great feeling! Lihat post ini di Instagram Hopefully this list gives you a few fresh ideas for your next family outing in Bali. Because keeping the kids entertained is one thing, but finding something the grown-ups actually enjoy too? Now that’s a win, hehe. Save this list for the next time someone asks, “What else is there to do in Bali with kids?”. Enjoy your holiday and thank you for reading!

Last-minute Christmas Present Ideas Image

Last-minute Christmas Present Ideas

A year has flown by like whooshh, and suddenly, here we are again at the most wonderful time of the year. I absolutely love Christmas - everything from holiday planning and baking to shopping for presents. But having a full-time job means I don’t always have the time to indulge in all of those festive activities as much as I’d like. So during this busiest season, online shopping has become my ultimate lifesaver. Living in Bali comes with its perks, but when it comes to finding certain items, the options can be limited, but you can find almost anything online! If you’re still on the hunt for last-minute Christmas presents ideas, here are a few suggestions from Kata Bella to help you out. For mum Mothers will appreciate anything we give them, but that doesn’t mean we shouldn’t put some thought into it. I get that not every mum loves cooking, and not every mum is into feminine things like jewellery. But whether your mum spends her days in the kitchen, at the office, or juggling a bit of everything, the hands that care for the whole family deserve a little pampering. A good hand lotion or treatment set can go a long way in showing her just how much you notice and appreciate everything she does! And my go to local brand is Bali Soap. Image credit: Bali Soap Instagram For dad I don’t know why, but I always associate dads with coffee. Maybe because they are always working and need their caffeine fix (it’s just my theory, lol). I’ve gifted these Sudana Family coffee beans from Satu Satu to a few dads, and they all loved it. If you’re unsure how they like to brew their coffee, it’s always safer to go with whole beans instead of ground coffee. That way, they can grind it fresh and make it just the way they like it. Image credit: Satu Satu Coffee Company Instagram For the eco-conscious or sporty friends You really can’t go wrong with a cute tumbler! It’s practical, thoughtful, and helps them stay hydrated while saving the planet - what’s not to love? There’s this local brand called V Paper Co. that’s rolled out Christmas special designs that are perfect for the season. I’ve shopped with them for presents twice, and both times were a hit! Image credit: V Paper Co. Tokopedia For the picky ones We all have that one brother or guy friend who’s impossible to shop for. But here’s the thing - most guys have one thing in common: they wear shorts. Whether it’s lounging at home, hanging out, or heading to the beach, shorts are a necessity, and black is a safe colour. Uniqlo has been my go-to for this kind of gift (success rate; 100%, based on experience). Another option is a black windbreaker jacket. Practical, stylish, and something they’ll actually wear. Image credit: Uniqlo Indonesia Website For the people you like…but don’t really know When it comes to work colleagues, bosses, business partners, teachers, or neighbours - those you may not know well but still want to show your appreciation, hampers are a classic choice. A quick search on Instagram or e-commerce sites will reveal a gazillion Christmas hamper options, from IDR 100K to 1M. To save you the trouble, here I’ve picked one from Mena Cookies that’s both decent and not too pricey. Image credit: Mena Cookies Instagram Hope you find these ideas useful! Remember, it’s not about how much you spend - it’s the thought behind it that counts. So take a deep breath, get those last-minute gifts sorted, and enjoy the most magical time of the year. Merry Christmas and happy gifting!
