Jungle Cart
Have you ever raced without engine and without hitting the gas? This one’s for the teens and grown ups! Zoom downhill on a 4.5 km ride through Bali’s sacred jungle, rice fields, temples and villages. You’ll pick up some speed along the way and use the brake to control how fast you go. Don’t worry, there’s a safety briefing before you set off. The ride takes around 20 minutes, unless you choose to go slow. When we tried it, it was absolutely pouring, but we kept going anyway because they provided rain jackets.

Strawberry Picking
Still in Bedugul – while you’re here, you might as well explore the area. One of the classic things to do here is strawberry picking. There are many spots around, just drive slowly and keep your eyes peeled for signs. Most are attached to or located near little strawberry shops selling all things strawberry, from jam and juice to milkshakes and pancakes. You can also bring home a box of freshly picked strawberries and support the local farmers.

Mountain Hiking
We’re adding this one to the list after being inspired by a friend who takes his five-year-old daughter hiking almost every weekend. Proof that hiking isn’t just for grown-ups! If it’s your kids’ first time, Mount Batur is a popular choice for beginner hikers, standing at 1,717 metres above sea level. The round-trip hike usually takes around 3 to4 hours, depending on your pace and route. The sunrise from the summit is unbeatable. Just make sure your kids are up for the early start and the climb.

Big fun, little spending
A nice long walk
While we understand that Bali isn’t exactly made for walking, there are still a few spots we love for a morning or afternoon stroll. You can start at Legian Beach and follow the beach pathway towards the airport, stopping for a fresh coconut along the way. Or wrap up your walk at Beachwalk and grab a quick bite. Sanur is another favourite for a leisurely stroll by the beach, and Niti Mandala park in Renon is a nice option too. Or walk along the iconic Campuhan Ridge Walk in Ubud.

A trip to traditional market
Taking the kids to a traditional market is a fun little adventure in itself! They can discover all sorts of tropical fruits they might have never seen before, like mangosteens, snake fruits, rose apples and custard apples. There’s so much to see, smell and taste, with colourful piles of fresh produce, and friendly vendors selling their daily goods. Let them ask questions, pick a fruit to try or guess what’s inside before cutting it open. They might discover a new favourite snack along the way.

Picnic at the Botanical Garden
Pack some snacks, grab a picnic mat and head to the Bali Botanic Garden in Bedugul. With plenty of greenery, space for the kids to run around and cooler mountain air, it’s a lovely spot to spend a few hours outdoors without getting too hot. it gets even cooler during what we call “Bali winter”, around June to August.

Kite flying on the beach
Here’s a fun way to get the kids off their screens for a while: kite flying! It’s a popular pastime in Indonesia, especially on breezy beach days. But, here’s the plot twist – getting the wind just right takes a bit of practice, so expect plenty of running around, a few tangles and lots of laughs along the way, hehe. But once your kite finally takes off, it’s such a great feeling!
Hopefully this list gives you a few fresh ideas for your next family outing in Bali. Because keeping the kids entertained is one thing, but finding something the grown-ups actually enjoy too? Now that’s a win, hehe. Save this list for the next time someone asks, “What else is there to do in Bali with kids?”. Enjoy your holiday and thank you for reading!
