Best Coffee Shops in Canggu, Umalas, and Nearby Areas

I’m not a coffee connoisseur, just a regular girl who needs her daily caffeine fix to survive the chaos of life. So don’t expect a deep dive into brewing methods, tasting notes, or where the beans are grown here. Instead, I’m simply sharing my go-to coffee spots near where I live in Bali, mostly Canggu, Umalas and the surrounding areas. This is also not a list of “The Most Instagrammable cafes” (though they are pretty cute); some are small, humble, and just….nice. So, if you’re looking for great coffee without the fluff – let’s get into it.

CANGGU: Berawa, Batu Bolong, Babakan

Satu Satu Coffee

Here’s one of the reasons why I keep coming back to Satu Satu: I drink Piccolo but I also live in Bali, right. So baristas, if you’re reading this, please don’t hate me, but I like my Piccolo ice cold. And Satu Satu is one of the few places that gets the balance of coffee, milk, and ice just right. It’s never watered down, but also not too intense. I often buy their ground coffee as presents for friends and family. The staff will ask how you brew at home so they can grind them to the right size – super helpful!

📍 Jl. Pantai Berawa No. 36, Tibubeneng, Kec. Kuta Utara

🕒 Open daily, 7.30am – 4pm

Fine by Satu Satu

If you like the coffee at Satu Satu but fancy a change of scenery, try Fine by Satu Satu. I usually stop by for a quick piccolo and a takeaway croissant, but I’ve noticed plenty of people working from there too. It’s a bright, spacious spot that looks comfortable enough to settle into for a few hours of work.

📍 Jl. Raya Babakan Canggu No. 51, Canggu, Kec. Kuta Utara

🕒 Open daily, 8am – 4.30pm

Two Face

It’s one of the “By Suka” cafes, and I’ve always enjoyed their other outlets too. This one is connected to Muda/ By Suka. I like to sit upstairs – nice, airy, and perfect for a slow coffee catch-up with a friend. They also have a solid brunch menu if you’re feeling a bit hungrier than just coffee. You can also order from Muda/ By Suka and eat here.

Samm’s Farm

Coffee in a cool, outdoorsy space? Yes, please. Samm’s Farm is a lovely spot if you’re looking for somewhere to enjoy your own company for a few hours with a coffee and a bite to eat. It’s also great for a quick workday, and it’s pet-friendly too.

Hungry Bird

It’s not the newest viral coffee shop, but we’re here for the coffee, right? They’ve recently renovated the space, and it now feels modern while still being warm and inviting. Their coffee menu is worth exploring too, from fruity to chocolatey notes. And if you end up loving your cup, you can grab a bag of beans to take home – they make a great Bali souvenir for family, friends, or yourself.

UMALAS AND KEROBOKAN

7AM Bakers

I like going to the one in Bumbak, but they now have a spot in Pererenan too. It’s roughly the same distance from where I live to either one. The space is nice for a quiet hangout with friends or a quick work-from-cafe session. If you get hungry in the middle of replying emails, they’ve got a tempting selection of pastries for cakes, plus a main menu if you’re ready for something more filling.

Ps. The one in Pererenen has longer opening hours (7am – 10pm)

Revolver HQ

The famous Revolver, which started as a tiny cafe in Seminyak, has now opened its HQ in Umalas. And unlike the old days, parking is no longer a challenge – there’s a whole basement parking area for both scooters and cars. You really can’t skip this one when you’re in Bali. The space is big, stylish, and easy to spend a few hours in. And after all these years, Revolver is still one of my favourite places to go for a good coffee fix.

Eko Cafe

This cafe is located in a laid-back area with a “settle down” vibe – you’ll often spot families with kids and dogs enjoying a relaxed breakfast, far from the busy surfer crowds or rushed office mornings. That’s exactly why I like it; I’m not a fan of crowded cafes, especially when you have to wait in line. The coffee here is nice, and they’re known for their healthy menu (but not too hardcore healthy, if you know what I mean).

Arnold’s Coffee

If you keep heading from Eko Cafe towards Jalan Raya Semer, you’ll spot a bright yellow coffee shop that’s hard to miss. Arnold’s Coffee may be small, but it’s full of charm, and it has everything you need to start your morning right. My family loves this place; we often end up staying a while, especially with the board games they have available. The coffee is nice, and you should definitely try the waffles. Best of all, the prices are affordable (I mean, things are generally cheaper once you’re outside central Canggu).

TGC Coffee

Good coffee, a nice space, and fair prices – that’s exactly why this place deserves a spotlight. Not far from 7AM Bakers in Bumbak, you’ll find a small entrance tucked away on the corner that leads to TGC. It’s easy to miss, but definitely worth seeking out. I like sitting outside, but the upstairs space looks like it’d be perfect for a work-from-cafe day.

Whether you’re after a perfectly balanced Piccolo, a quiet place to work, or a cosy cafe with healthy bites, these spots are worth checking out. If you know of any other nice coffee shops in the area, drop me a message! I’m always on the lookout for new favourites 🙂

My Little Canggu Restaurant List - Part 2

Canggu Restaurant List. Hello! If you’ve somehow landed on this article, just a heads up that there’s a Part 1 over here. I’ve split this into two parts so I can categorise the restaurants based on what I actually go there for. It makes things easier to navigate and gives me room to keep growing the list over time (because… the eating continues). I don’t go out for fancy dinners often, but I do love a good girls’ night out - and don’t we always have something to celebrate? I’ve also added a little list for date nights, although in reality, those “dates” are more often spent with my girls too lol. You decide. Aaaanyway, whether you’re planning a night out, a catch-up, or just looking for your next excuse to eat - here’s my list. FOR GIRLS NIGHT OUTS, BIRTHDAYS, AND OTHER CELEBRATIONSDing Ding Hot PotKhao BaliMuda by/Suka SazónBEAUTIFUL SPOTS WITH GREAT FOOD FOR PROPER DATE NIGHTSCureShelterNumero QuattroMasonry.Lulu Bistrot You may also like this article: My Little Canggu Restaurant List - Part 1 FOR GIRLS NIGHT OUTS, BIRTHDAYS, AND OTHER CELEBRATIONS Ding Ding Hot Pot Hot pot and karaoke with your favourite people - I guarantee you’ll have a great time. Plus, it’s arguably a healthier alternative to a typical night out… because, well, hot pot. If you’re coming in a group of 8–10, you can book a VIP room with a minimum spend of IDR 1.8 million in total. There are two seating times: 5pm and 8pm. You’ll find a variety of soup bases and an extensive selection of fillings; vegetarian, seafood, chicken, and premium meats - so there’s something for every diet. And oh, there’s a dedicated corner for you to mix your own sauces. 💰 Price range: From IDR 300K/ person ⏰ Opening hours: Monday to Sunday, 10am-12pm 📍 Address: Jl. Padang Linjong, Canggu, Kec. Kuta Utara, Badung, Bali  Image credit: Ding Ding Instagram Khao Bali Thai food, but make it premium - that’s Khao Bali. The space is casual, with a lovely outdoor area at the back overlooking a lush garden. But at the same time, it’s also the kind of place where you can dress up a little with your friends and treat yourselves to something nice. All the Thai classics are still there, like tom yum, curries, fish cakes, and they’re just as flavourful as they are in Thailand. But with added finesse, using locally sourced ingredients from Bali. 💰 Price range: From IDR 200K/ person ⏰ Opening hours: Monday to Sunday, 10am-11pm 📍 Address: Jl. Pantai Batu Mejan, Canggu, Kec. Kuta Utara, Badung, Bali Image credit: Khao Bali Instagram Muda by/Suka  “Asian cuisine with a twist,” as food reviewers would say. I’ve honestly lost count of how many times I’ve celebrated special occasions here - my girls know how much I love this place that they once threw me a surprise bachelorette party here, haha. My idea of a party involves really good Asian food like their salmon nori tacos, tenderloin pad see ew, or miso-glazed charcoal chicken. And please, make room for dessert because their whiskey chocolate lava cake is worth every calorie. Oh, and don’t skip the cocktails - Masih Muda (still young”) with lychee liqueur is my favourite.  💰 Price range: From IDR 250K/ person ⏰ Opening hours: Monday to Sunday, 4.30pm-10pm 📍 Address: Jl. They’ve recently revamped the menu - shifting from Spanish to a broader Mediterranean direction. But don't worry, the restaurant’s signature paella remains a staple - generously loaded with seafood, scallops, prawns, and a rich squid ink sofrito. The new dishes are complemented by a cocktail list inspired by the winds of the Mediterranean sea, plus an intimate Chef’s Counter experience where you can sit by the kitchen and enjoy a seasonal, chef-led journey. 💰 Price range: From IDR 350K/ person ⏰ Opening hours: Monday to Sunday, 6pm-12am 📍 Address: Jl. Pantai Batu Bolong No. 93xx, Canggu, Kuta Utara, Bali Image credit: Sazón Instagram BEAUTIFUL SPOTS WITH GREAT FOOD FOR PROPER DATE NIGHTS Cure This new kid on the block came in strong! A beautiful beachfront venue with an Asian-inspired menu by Chef Andrew Walsh. A lineup that sounds “simple”, like potato bread with butter to start, steak tartare polenta, and roasted chicken with Japanese rice delivers far more depth than you’d expect. Finish strong with their cocktails. I went for their Tea & Citrus - a perfect mix of dry gin and earl grey tea, yum! You can sit by the open kitchen and watch the magic happen, settle into the comfy dining area, or head outside for the sea breeze and the sound of the waves. There’s also a private room if you’re after something more intimate. 💰 Price range: From IDR 350K/ person ⏰ Opening hours: Tuesday to Sunday, 5pm-12am 📍 Address: Jl. Munduk Catu, Kec. Kuta Utara, Badung, Bali Shelter Candlelit tables, a tropical ambience, an open-air space and most importantly, amazing food - that makes a perfect date night. I always start with the hummus with a crunchy surprise that I like, and warm, comforting flatbread. Then it’s mains to share: roasted scallops, roasted king prawns, and barramundi. And of course, cocktails. Sometimes I stick to the classics, but other times I go for Kembang Desa (the village star); gin with jasmine, lychee, and lemon. 💰 Price range: From IDR 250K/ person ⏰ Opening hours: Monday to Sunday, 12pm-12am 📍 Address: Jl. Pantai Pererenan No.133, Pererenan, Kec. Mengwi, Badung, Bali Image credit: Shelter Instagram Numero Quattro One cannot simply go to Numero Quattro without having their pasta - it’s kind of the whole point. That said, the grill section makes a very convincing argument too, with options like rib-eye, and pork chop quietly stealing the spotlight. And did I mention the tiramisu is mandatory? It’s not optional. It’s not your typical pasta joint either - the space leans more urban chic with a hint of coastal vibes. It’s the kind of place where you can dress up if you feel like it, but it’s more effortless chic than full-on fancy. 💰 Price range: From IDR 250K/ person ⏰ Opening hours: Mon-Fri 5pm-12am, Sat-Sun 12pm-12am 📍 Address: Jl. Pantai Batu Mejan No.4, Canggu, Kec. Kuta Utara, Badung, Bali Image credit: Numero Quattro Instagram Masonry. I think Mediterranean cuisine is starting to grow on me. For those evenings when you feel like being taken care of with hearty food, good wine, and a warm, inviting ambience, Masonry ticks all the boxes. It’s an open, airy space with that easy Bali feel. You can choose how you want to dine here: keep it simple with your own burger or spaghetti, or go all in and share a spread of wood-fired grills with sides and small plates. 💰 Price range:  From IDR 250K/ person ⏰ Opening hours: Monday to Sunday, 12pm-12am 📍 Address: Jl. Pantai Batu Bolong No.39a, Canggu, Kec. Kuta Utara, Badung, Bali Image credit: Masonry Instagram Lulu Bistrot “Voulez-vous dîner avec moi ce soir?” - I like to imagine I can magically speak French after a proper French dinner, hehe. When you step into Lulu Bistrot, you almost forget you’re in Bali. The ambiance is sophisticated, but not snobbish - if you know what I mean. I’m not usually a big fan of red meat, but with something as good as their steak… yes, puh-lease. It might sound exaggerated, but everything on the menu is muachh! *chef’s kiss.  💰 Price range: From IDR 250K/ person ⏰ Opening hours: Mon-Fri 5pm-12am, Sat-Sun 11am-12am 📍 Address: Jl. Pantai Batu Bolong No.72, Canggu, Kec. Kuta Utara, Badung, Bali Image credit: Lulu Bistrot Instagram Ok, so that’s Part 2 of my ever-growing list - because I love food, I love eating out, and this is just a tiny slice of Canggu I’ve explored. There’s still so much more to discover here and across Bali… but only so much space in my stomach, lol. New spots keep popping up, so yes, this list is definitely continuing. I hope this gives you a few new places to try. Until the next round of “research”… see you at the table and thank you for reading!

Brunch in Bali: Rediscovering Legian through Farmer’s Daughter

Brunch in Bali has taken on many forms over the years, but while trendy neighbourhoods like Canggu and Uluwatu rise in popularity, Legian will always hold a special place in my little heart. I still have core memories of me and my cousin wandering the streets of Legian, going to the beach and getting our hair braided, shopping at Surfer Girl, when days felt unhurried and things were simpler. The neighbourhood has changed so much since then, as places naturally do. Still, there are pockets of Legian that feel reassuringly timeless. Some hotels have remained local favourites since the 90s, like Bali Mandira, holding onto their charm while growing alongside the area. And tucked away on a small street leading to the iconic Padma Beach - one of the surfers’ go-to spots, you’ll find a new charming coffee shop called Farmer’s Daughter. Romanticising My Brunch in Bali Serving everything you’d expect from a Bali café, Farmer’s Daughter offers a comforting menu of freshly baked pastries, desserts, and holiday-style dishes like pasta and fish and chips. (I still call it “holiday food” even though I live here, because it is what it is! lol.) For those days when you don’t feel like eating meat - which happens to me sometimes, there are also plenty of vegetarian options on the menu. Everything is made using locally sourced ingredients, which feels very on-brand for Bali. The island is blessed with such fresh produce, and I genuinely think every business should embrace that more. It’s one of the things that makes brunch in Bali feel special: simple food done well, with ingredients that actually taste like they were grown nearby. Farmer's Daughter has everything from pastries, desserts, and main courses Something that Feels Like Home The name "Farmer’s Daughter" is just so cute! Vegan Cafes in Canggu: 5 Nice Spots for Your Daily Greens Image

Vegan Cafes in Canggu: 5 Nice Spots for Your Daily Greens

Vegan Cafes in Canggu I’m not vegan, but when I really think about it, the Indonesian diet is actually heavily plant-based. I grew up eating tempe, tofu, steamed mushrooms, stir-fried vegetables, and vegetable soups without ever thinking of them as “vegan food” - they were just normal everyday meals at home. Meat was often more of a side dish or something for special occasions, while vegetables, soy-based proteins, rice, and simple home cooking were the real foundation of the diet. In my family, at least. So now that I’m an adult with free will and access to basically any food I want, I still naturally enjoy vegetables every now and then. My parents eat almost entirely plant-based these days too, so I guess I still follow that rhythm - and living in Canggu definitely makes it easy, because vegan options are everywhere. Here’s a mix of places I’ve personally tried myself, plus a few recommendations from my friends too. You may also like this article: 5 Must-Visit Best Coffee Shops in Canggu, Umalas, and Nearby Areas The Shady Shack They’ve been around for ages, and they’re proof that vegan and vegetarian food doesn’t have to be sad. Find colourful nourishing plates, vegan burgers, smoothie bowls, fresh juices, and raw vegan desserts in a relaxed jungle-like setting hidden away from the main road. 📍 Jl. Tanah Barak No.53, Canggu, Kuta Utara, Badung Regency, Bali⏰ Monday to Sunday, 7.30am-10.30pm Image credit: The Shady Shack Instagram I Am Vegan Babe This place has quite an extensive menu; vegan tacos, burgers, breakfast plates, desserts, cakes, smoothies, and comfort food that doesn’t feel “too healthy". hehe. The vibe is lively, social, modern, and it’s become pretty popular among travellers staying around Canggu. 📍 Jl. Tanah Barak No.49, Canggu, Kuta Utara, Badung Regency, Bali⏰ Monday to Sunday, 7am-10pm Image credit: I am Vegan Babe Instagram You may also like this article: Things to do in Bali - Fun Art Classes at Rumah Rabbit KYND Community When you spot a bright pink restaurant on Jalan Nelayan, that’s it, that’s KYND Community. And yes, the meals really are as cute in real life as they look on Instagram. You can build your own protein bowl, or go for pasta, burgers, sandwiches, smoothie bowls, and colourful brunch plates - because vegan food doesn’t always have to be salad, right? 📍 Jl. Nelayan No.31, Canggu, Kuta Utara, Bali⏰ Monday to Sunday, 7am-9pm Image credit: Kynd Community Instagram Warung Dua Hati I feel like this place is underrated, but if you’re craving vegan Indonesian food, give Warung Dua Hati a try. Alongside local dishes, they also serve Western meals and smoothie bowls too, so you still have plenty of options. Ps. “Dua Hati” means “two hearts,” so I’m guessing that’s why the rice is heart-shaped, hehe. 📍 Jl. Pantai Batu Mejan No.12D, Canggu, Kuta Utara, Bali⏰ Monday to Sunday, 7am-10pm Image credit: Warung Dua Hati Instagram Oma Jamu Here’s another vegan Indonesian spot worth trying. Oma Jamu has a warung-style display with ready-made dishes, which is perfect if you arrive starving and want to eat straight away. And from the name “Oma Jamu,” you can expect that they also have a great selection of homemade jamu (Indonesian traditional herbal drinks). 📍 Jl. Pantai Batu Bolong No.46A, Canggu, Bali ⏰ Mon–Sat 8AM–11PM, Sun 10AM–9PM Image credit: Oma Jamu Instagram Those are my five spots for now. But really, other than the vegan-labelled cafés, it’s super easy to find plant-based options everywhere in Canggu (and in Indonesia). Most restaurants are also pretty flexible these days and cater to all kinds of diets. Hope you find this useful, and stay tuned for more on the list.
