Foci Bakery

I’m a fan of focaccia bread because it’s light, but paired with a good filling, it’s satisfying. That’s exactly why I like Foci Bakery – it’s perfect for a quick lunch. Even something as simple as their focaccia with pesto hits the spot, but if you’re after something more filling, they also do something like the Thicc Breakfast Sandwich, packed with pork belly pastrami and egg. Yum!

Kalos

Its spacious open-air setting and garden surroundings create a peaceful atmosphere where time seems to move a little slower. Enjoy a quiet coffee, take your time with a freshly baked croissant, or settle in for a few hours of work. The menu follows the same balance, offering nourishing salads alongside international menu and comfort meals like pasta and pizza.

Seta Coffee

A beautifully designed space that feels both stylish and familiar. The cosy interior blends modern cafe design with Indonesian touches, from wooden pillars and Javanese patterned tiles to woven details and batik accents. There’s a warmth to the space that feels like stepping into an Indonesian home. Beyond coffee, their menu also offers a range of international dishes.

Baker Butcher Barista

True to its name, Baker Butcher Barista brings together three things they do best: baked goods, hearty dishes, and coffee creations. Their menu is filled with interesting choices, from pastries like the cempedak croissant (a tropical jackfruit-like fruit native to Southeast Asia) to playful drinks like the Teh Botol Latte and Onde-Onde (glutinous rice ball filled with mung bean paste and coated with sesame seeds). The space itself is equally inviting – comfortable, and well-designed for everything from a quick coffee stop to a relaxed meal.

Seniman Coffee

Some places never go out of style, and Seniman Coffee is one of them. It’s almost an unspoken rule that if you’re in Ubud, you have to stop by at least once. Whether it’s your first visit or your tenth, it always feels good to come back. After all these years, it’s still one of Ubud’s true coffee legends.

Aesthetic cafes in Ubud. I rarely find myself heading to Ubud, but whenever I do, I’m always reminded that one day is never quite enough. Aside from its lush landscapes and slower pace, Ubud has a way of offering experiences that feel fresh and different from other Bali neighbourhoods - from wandering through art spaces and rice field trails to joining creative workshops, chasing hidden waterfalls, or simply finding a quiet corner surrounded by nature. And then...the coffee shops! So many beautiful cafes to explore, so little time, and (sadly) only so much space in my stomach, haha. With earthy interiors, jungle views, and that unmistakable Ubud aesthetic that just hits different, every coffee stop feels like a little experience of its own - from the way sunlight filters through rattan lampshades to how your matcha latte somehow looks even better against a perfect terracotta backdrop. Here are a few of those aesthetic cafes in Ubud that are worth adding to your list. The inside space is homely, with natural touches and a tatami seating area that makes you want to kick back and stay awhile. The interior feels cosy, artistic, and a little bit quirky, like an old, slightly abandoned living room that's somehow comfortable to spend a couple of hours in, slowly sipping on a long black with a small bite. It’s not a big space, but it’s full of character. Everything feels thoughtfully designed, from the cosy layout to the little details that make the experience special. It may be small, but it's cosy and there's upstairs seating area as well. The menu offers plenty of Western dishes to choose from, though unfortunately there aren't any desserts. Jinny's Garden | 📍Jl. Goutama, Ubud, Kecamatan Ubud Sacra Stuja If you're after a place with that laid-back Ubud vibe, this is the spot. It feels calm from the outside, and once you step in, you'll find a cosy bohemian space that almost feels like a giant tent, with plenty of natural touches and lush greenery adding to its charm. If you've got your furry friend with you, you'll be happy to know it's pet-friendly too. Sacra Stuja | 📍 Nyuh Kuning Rd Desa Adat No.77x, Mas, Ubud Image credit: Sacra Stuja Instagram Clear Cafe You step inside, but then somehow find yourself in the “outdoors”, hehe. Clear Cafe's open-air space is surrounded by lush greenery, with a peaceful fish pond creating the calming sound of flowing water. Filled with natural elements, warm textures, and plenty of plants, the whole place feels like a hidden garden escape where you can slow down and enjoy a quiet moment in Ubud. Clear Cafe | 📍 Jl. While the aesthetic spots are definitely worth exploring, there’s something special about being surrounded by this greener, slower side of Bali again. Ubud has grown and changed over the years, but somehow the feeling I remember from when I was little is still there - the calm energy, and that little bit of magic in the air. Hopefully, it stays this way for many years to come. And just like my other restaurant lists, this one will keep growing. Coffee Shops in Denpasar What’s in Denpasar? Well...a lot, actually. Don’t just stick to one area when you’re on holiday in Bali. In case you didn’t know, Denpasar is the capital and largest city of Bali, as well as the island’s central hub for government, commerce, and everyday life. Beyond the busy city centre, you’ll find huge residential areas, local neighbourhoods, traditional markets, and plenty of places where everyday Balinese life carries on. And one of the things I love about checking out cafes and coffee shops here is the regular local prices. No viral cafe mark-up, just good coffee at prices that actually feel pretty reasonable. So, if you’re up for exploring Denpasar, here are a few coffee spots worth checking out, picked by the Kata Bella team and friends. If you’re looking for a more local afternoon coffee experience, this is definitely one to try. 📍Google Map: Nadhi Heritage Image credit: Nadhi Heritage Instagram Toko Kopi Jaya They have one in Denpasar and another in Kuta, and the last time I went to the one in Kuta, it was packed even though the space is pretty big. Coffee starts from 27K, and they also have snacks and light bites at pretty good prices too. The menu is a mix of Indonesian comfort snacks like tahu bakso (stuffed tofu) and pisang goreng (banana fritters), along with various pastries and banana bread. One unique coffee that caught our attention was their lemongrass americano. 📍Google Map: Toko Kopi Jaya Image credit: Toko Kopi Jaya Google page Mai Little Space This little spot is tucked upstairs and feels a bit like going over to your friend’s house and they serve you coffee! Hehe. It’s a nice and quiet space where you can chill, or get some work done for hours. Their must-tries on the menu are their dirty latte, which has a hint of blueberry cheesecake, and the matcha strawberry. The space is simple, cosy, and inviting- just the kind of place you want to hang out at with a good coffee and a croissant. We’re happy to see they’ve now opened a spot at Plaza Renon too! 📍Google Map: The Frontier House Image credit: The Frontier House Instagram Kyoto Country Club Heritage This is the OG, before Kyoto Country Club Southland in Umalas became the big hit it is today. It’s a Japanese-inspired specialty coffee house and fusion restaurant, so you’ll find a good mix of Japanese dishes and, of course, good coffee. The whole place is decked out in Japanese-inspired details, from the exterior to the moment you step inside, even extending to the outdoor space. They have out-of-the-box coffee creations, like guava, strawberry, yuzu, and...seaweed coffee? Who would’ve thought! They do all the classics too, so you can still grab a good latte or Americano, but while you’re here, why not be a little adventurous, right? Or, you can take home one of their bottled coffees, with flavours like rose, red ginger, and pineapple. They now have several branches across Jakarta, and another one in Denpasar. 📍Google Map: Second Floor Coffee Patimura Image credit: Second Floor Coffee Instagram Seniman Coffee It’s one of Bali’s well-known coffee roasters, and there’s a reason why they remain popular among locals and travellers. I think a big part of the appeal is that the coffee is consistently good. They have a great selection of beans from different parts of Indonesia, including plenty of varieties from Bali, so if you’re into coffee, there’s always something good to try here. The space in Denpasar is pretty artsy too - well, Seniman means “artist” after all. The number of good coffee shop here is growing, with plenty of great local spots to discover, alongside some of the island’s best Indonesian food and street eats. Take a little detour from the usual Bali itinerary - you might just find a different side of the island worth coming back for.

Yes, we know we can order food on board, and there are plenty of restaurants at the airport, but old habits die hard, lol. We like to squeeze in one last meal on the way to the airport, just in case. And if you're on holiday in Bali, surely you'd want to enjoy every last minute on the island before heading home, right? If you're the same, here are some of our usual stops for a bite before take-off. Hopefully, you'll find a new favourite along the way! The menu is packed with hearty comfort food, from nasi campur and fried rice to fried noodles, congee and fried chicken. Fill your tummy first, then pop next door to grab some Japanese snacks for the flight, hehe.
