Not sure about you, but we’re always a little worried of getting hungry on a flight. Yes, we know we can order food on board, and there are plenty of restaurants at the airport, but old habits die hard, lol. We like to squeeze in one last meal on the way to the airport, just in case.
And if you’re on holiday in Bali, surely you’d want to enjoy every last minute on the island before heading home, right? If you’re the same, here are some of our usual stops for a bite before take-off. Hopefully, you’ll find a new favourite along the way!
They have been around for ages, and after all this time, it remains one of those comforting, reliable spots we keep coming back to. The menu is pretty international, making it a safe bet if you’re dining with a group or family. There are options like soups, sandwiches, wraps, salads and plenty more to choose from. Plus, there’s plenty of parking space, which is always a bonus!
Another Bali OG that so far has never let us down. If you’re short on time, there’s a good selection of pastries to grab for a quick bite or take away. But we hope that you can spare a little time, and settle in for some proper Indonesian comfort food, like a hearty bowl of sop buntut (oxtail soup) or soto ayam (chicken soup). They also serve pasta, pizza and other international favourites.
Their menu covers all the usual brunch favourites like eggs Benedict and big breakfasts if you need to fuel up before your morning flight, or keep things light with salads and sandwiches. If you’re feeling hungrier, there are also pasta dishes and Asian favourites to choose from. Ps. they’re close to Krisna, if you need to squeeze in some last-minute souvenir shopping before heading to the airport.
For those who like their pre-flight stops with a little extra charm, this spot will have you feeling like you’ve been transported straight to Nagoya, with Japanese favourites like chicken curry, onigiri and sandwiches on the menu. If you just want to kill some time before heading to the airport, their coffee menu ranges from classic black to something a little more naughty, hehe. And don’t even get us started on the Japanese desserts!
With two locations near the airport, Uncle Pipin is a handy stop if you’re craving a proper feast before or after your flight. They specialise in Singkawang-style dishes, a city in West Kalimantan known for its Chinese-Indonesian culinary heritage. The menu is packed with hearty comfort food, from nasi campur and fried rice to fried noodles, congee and fried chicken. Good luck picking just one!
Here’s a little two-in-one stop for you: a Japanese restaurant serving Okinawan-style dishes, right next to Papaya Fresh Gallery, a Japanese Supermarket. Fill your tummy first, then pop next door to grab some Japanese snacks for the flight, hehe. It’s located just off Sunset Road, so getting there by car is pretty easy and straightforward.
Well, leaving Bali is hard enough, so you might as well make time for one last good meal before leaving, right? Save this list for your next airport run, and hopefully, you’ll find a new favourite along the way. We promise we’ll add more! Eat well, travel safe, and we’ll see you on your next Bali trip!
