Best Coffee Shops in Canggu, Umalas, and Nearby Areas

I’m not a coffee connoisseur, just a regular girl who needs her daily caffeine fix to survive the chaos of life. So don’t expect a deep dive into brewing methods, tasting notes, or where the beans are grown here. Instead, I’m simply sharing my go-to coffee spots near where I live in Bali, mostly Canggu, Umalas and the surrounding areas. This is also not a list of “The Most Instagrammable cafes” (though they are pretty cute); some are small, humble, and just….nice. So, if you’re looking for great coffee without the fluff – let’s get into it.

CANGGU: Berawa, Batu Bolong, Babakan

Satu Satu Coffee

Here’s one of the reasons why I keep coming back to Satu Satu: I drink Piccolo but I also live in Bali, right. So baristas, if you’re reading this, please don’t hate me, but I like my Piccolo ice cold. And Satu Satu is one of the few places that gets the balance of coffee, milk, and ice just right. It’s never watered down, but also not too intense. I often buy their ground coffee as presents for friends and family. The staff will ask how you brew at home so they can grind them to the right size – super helpful!

Fine by Satu Satu

If you like the coffee at Satu Satu but fancy a change of scenery, try Fine by Satu Satu. I usually stop by for a quick piccolo and a takeaway croissant, but I’ve noticed plenty of people working from there too. It’s a bright, spacious spot that looks comfortable enough to settle into for a few hours of work.

Two Face

It’s one of the “By Suka” cafes, and I’ve always enjoyed their other outlets too. This one is connected to Muda/ By Suka. I like to sit upstairs – nice, airy, and perfect for a slow coffee catch-up with a friend. They also have a solid brunch menu if you’re feeling a bit hungrier than just coffee. You can also order from Muda/ By Suka and eat here.

Samm’s Farm

Coffee in a cool, outdoorsy space? Yes, please. Samm’s Farm is a lovely spot if you’re looking for somewhere to enjoy your own company for a few hours with a coffee and a bite to eat. It’s also great for a quick workday, and it’s pet-friendly too.

Stray Dog

It’s one of those coffee shops that doesn’t overdo anything. Simple, unpretentious, and focused on their coffee – they serve proper artisan coffee with a nice selection to choose from. Beyond coffee, they also have pastries and a few main course options on the menu. The space is nice and humble, with a vinyl collection that makes it feel even more homey and comfy to hang out in.

Hungry Bird

It’s not the newest viral coffee shop, but we’re here for the coffee, right? They’ve recently renovated the space, and it now feels modern while still being warm and inviting. Their coffee menu is worth exploring too, from fruity to chocolatey notes. And if you end up loving your cup, you can grab a bag of beans to take home – they make a great Bali souvenir for family, friends, or yourself.

UMALAS AND KEROBOKAN

7AM Bakers

I like going to the one in Bumbak, but they now have a spot in Pererenan too. It’s roughly the same distance from where I live to either one. The space is nice for a quiet hangout with friends or a quick work-from-cafe session. If you get hungry in the middle of replying emails, they’ve got a tempting selection of pastries for cakes, plus a main menu if you’re ready for something more filling.

Ps. The one in Pererenen has longer opening hours (7am – 10pm)

Revolver HQ

The famous Revolver, which started as a tiny cafe in Seminyak, has now opened its HQ in Umalas. And unlike the old days, parking is no longer a challenge – there’s a whole basement parking area for both scooters and cars. You really can’t skip this one when you’re in Bali. The space is big, stylish, and easy to spend a few hours in. And after all these years, Revolver is still one of my favourite places to go for a good coffee fix.

Eko Cafe

This cafe is located in a laid-back area with a “settle down” vibe – you’ll often spot families with kids and dogs enjoying a relaxed breakfast, far from the busy surfer crowds or rushed office mornings. That’s exactly why I like it; I’m not a fan of crowded cafes, especially when you have to wait in line. The coffee here is nice, and they’re known for their healthy menu (but not too hardcore healthy, if you know what I mean).

Arnold’s Coffee

If you keep heading from Eko Cafe towards Jalan Raya Semer, you’ll spot a bright yellow coffee shop that’s hard to miss. Arnold’s Coffee may be small, but it’s full of charm, and it has everything you need to start your morning right. My family loves this place; we often end up staying a while, especially with the board games they have available. The coffee is nice, and you should definitely try the waffles. Best of all, the prices are affordable (I mean, things are generally cheaper once you’re outside central Canggu).

TGC Coffee

Good coffee, a nice space, and fair prices – that’s exactly why this place deserves a spotlight. Not far from 7AM Bakers in Bumbak, you’ll find a small entrance tucked away on the corner that leads to TGC. It’s easy to miss, but definitely worth seeking out. I like sitting outside, but the upstairs space looks like it’d be perfect for a work-from-cafe day.

And now, there’s another one to add to the list - a place for slow afternoons, golden-hour sunsets, and laid-back weekends in Canggu. Tucked inside The Arc House Canggu, a boutique retreat with 19 private pool suite villas, lies Mykaza - a little rooftop oasis with an easy, feel-good energy. The vibe is elevated yet relaxed, with that effortless barefoot Bali charm. What began as a modern Japanese izakaya concept evolved when the team moved to Bali. Aesthetic Canggu Cafes and Restaurants I don’t pick a cafe or restaurant just because it’s cute - but I’ll admit, when a place has a nice interior and a comfortable space, I’m way more tempted to check it out. People these days call it “Instagrammable” (not really a word I love using), but for me it’s less about the photos and more about how genuinely happy I feel sitting in a space that looks and feels good. Canggu definitely has plenty of that aesthetic energy, but I’ve also made sure to pick spots that I actually enjoyed eating at - not just looking at. But once you step inside, the vibe shifts completely. It’s a smart dining kind of place, serving a proper Italian menu from antipasti and pizza to pasta and, of course, dessert. The highlights for us were the chicken al mattone and linguine al limone. So yes, this place is not just pretty - the food is genuinely delicious too. ⏰ Opening hours: Tue-Sun, 11am-11pm 📍 Google Map: Studio Pepe Monsieur Spoon The Luc I still remember when Monsieur Spoon was just a little shop in Umalas, and I’d walk there from my aunt’s villa for chocolate tartlets and plain croissants. Now they’re everywhere - not just in Bali, but in big cities all over Indonesia too. Anyway, among all their branches, I find the one at The Luc Canggu especially cute and comfy. And if you haven’t explored the Tumbak Bayuh area yet, now’s a good time. It’s much quieter than central Canggu, with plenty of hidden gems like this spot, Mara. It instantly catches your eye the moment you walk in, with bold colours and a fun, playful vibe. The menu isn’t too extensive, but it has everything you need for a good, easy lunch. There’s also a little corner with cute merchandise you can browse while you’re there. ⏰ Opening hours: Mon-Sat, 7.30am-6.30pm 📍 Google Map: Mara Mata Warung, but make it cool. The space is huge and full of personality. You’ll be greeted by super cool murals that kind of set the whole vibe from the moment you walk in. There’s a little shop right at the entrance, a vinyl room tucked at the back, and a lush garden space that’s perfect for private events. Don’t expect traditional warung prices here, though - it’s more of a proper restaurant experience dressed in warung concept (they have a la carte menu too).
