Best Coffee Shops in Canggu, Umalas, and Nearby Areas

I’m not a coffee connoisseur, just a regular girl who needs her daily caffeine fix to survive the chaos of life. So don’t expect a deep dive into brewing methods, tasting notes, or where the beans are grown here. Instead, I’m simply sharing my go-to coffee spots near where I live in Bali, mostly Canggu, Umalas and the surrounding areas. This is also not a list of “The Most Instagrammable cafes” (though they are pretty cute); some are small, humble, and just….nice. So, if you’re looking for great coffee without the fluff – let’s get into it.

CANGGU: Berawa, Batu Bolong, Babakan

Satu Satu Coffee

Here’s one of the reasons why I keep coming back to Satu Satu: I drink Piccolo but I also live in Bali, right. So baristas, if you’re reading this, please don’t hate me, but I like my Piccolo ice cold. And Satu Satu is one of the few places that gets the balance of coffee, milk, and ice just right. It’s never watered down, but also not too intense. I often buy their ground coffee as presents for friends and family. The staff will ask how you brew at home so they can grind them to the right size – super helpful!

Fine by Satu Satu

If you like the coffee at Satu Satu but fancy a change of scenery, try Fine by Satu Satu. I usually stop by for a quick piccolo and a takeaway croissant, but I’ve noticed plenty of people working from there too. It’s a bright, spacious spot that looks comfortable enough to settle into for a few hours of work.

Two Face

It’s one of the “By Suka” cafes, and I’ve always enjoyed their other outlets too. This one is connected to Muda/ By Suka. I like to sit upstairs – nice, airy, and perfect for a slow coffee catch-up with a friend. They also have a solid brunch menu if you’re feeling a bit hungrier than just coffee. You can also order from Muda/ By Suka and eat here.

Samm’s Farm

Coffee in a cool, outdoorsy space? Yes, please. Samm’s Farm is a lovely spot if you’re looking for somewhere to enjoy your own company for a few hours with a coffee and a bite to eat. It’s also great for a quick workday, and it’s pet-friendly too.

Stray Dog

It’s one of those coffee shops that doesn’t overdo anything. Simple, unpretentious, and focused on their coffee – they serve proper artisan coffee with a nice selection to choose from. Beyond coffee, they also have pastries and a few main course options on the menu. The space is nice and humble, with a vinyl collection that makes it feel even more homey and comfy to hang out in.

Hungry Bird

It’s not the newest viral coffee shop, but we’re here for the coffee, right? They’ve recently renovated the space, and it now feels modern while still being warm and inviting. Their coffee menu is worth exploring too, from fruity to chocolatey notes. And if you end up loving your cup, you can grab a bag of beans to take home – they make a great Bali souvenir for family, friends, or yourself.

UMALAS AND KEROBOKAN

7AM Bakers

I like going to the one in Bumbak, but they now have a spot in Pererenan too. It’s roughly the same distance from where I live to either one. The space is nice for a quiet hangout with friends or a quick work-from-cafe session. If you get hungry in the middle of replying emails, they’ve got a tempting selection of pastries for cakes, plus a main menu if you’re ready for something more filling.

Ps. The one in Pererenen has longer opening hours (7am – 10pm)

Revolver HQ

The famous Revolver, which started as a tiny cafe in Seminyak, has now opened its HQ in Umalas. And unlike the old days, parking is no longer a challenge – there’s a whole basement parking area for both scooters and cars. You really can’t skip this one when you’re in Bali. The space is big, stylish, and easy to spend a few hours in. And after all these years, Revolver is still one of my favourite places to go for a good coffee fix.

Eko Cafe

This cafe is located in a laid-back area with a “settle down” vibe – you’ll often spot families with kids and dogs enjoying a relaxed breakfast, far from the busy surfer crowds or rushed office mornings. That’s exactly why I like it; I’m not a fan of crowded cafes, especially when you have to wait in line. The coffee here is nice, and they’re known for their healthy menu (but not too hardcore healthy, if you know what I mean).

Arnold’s Coffee

If you keep heading from Eko Cafe towards Jalan Raya Semer, you’ll spot a bright yellow coffee shop that’s hard to miss. Arnold’s Coffee may be small, but it’s full of charm, and it has everything you need to start your morning right. My family loves this place; we often end up staying a while, especially with the board games they have available. The coffee is nice, and you should definitely try the waffles. Best of all, the prices are affordable (I mean, things are generally cheaper once you’re outside central Canggu).

TGC Coffee

Good coffee, a nice space, and fair prices – that’s exactly why this place deserves a spotlight. Not far from 7AM Bakers in Bumbak, you’ll find a small entrance tucked away on the corner that leads to TGC. It’s easy to miss, but definitely worth seeking out. I like sitting outside, but the upstairs space looks like it’d be perfect for a work-from-cafe day.

Their menu is filled with interesting choices, from pastries like the cempedak croissant (a tropical jackfruit-like fruit native to Southeast Asia) to playful drinks like the Teh Botol Latte and Onde-Onde (glutinous rice ball filled with mung bean paste and coated with sesame seeds). It's almost an unspoken rule that if you're in Ubud, you have to stop by at least once. Whether it's your first visit or your tenth, it always feels good to come back. After all these years, it's still one of Ubud's true coffee legends. Chinese Restaurants in Bali When we say Sunday brunch in Indonesia, we’re not usually talking about roasts, Yorkshire puddings, barbeque, or oysters. Us Indos grew up believing that Sunday brunch meant one thing and one thing only: dim sum galore. Steamed baskets of har gow, pork siu mai, chicken siu mai, cheung fun drenched in sauce...yum, yum, and yum! So, trust us when we say we know a thing or two about good Chinese restaurants in Bali, hehe. From old-school favourites that have been around forever to newer spots worth checking out, we’ve gathered the places that deserve a spot on your food list. Right opposite Little Hongkong, you’ll find this spot serving very tasty Singaporean chicken rice. You can choose how you like your chicken; Hainanese, satay, or barbecue, or why only pick one when you can have all of them? New modern Chinese restaurants can keep popping up, but we’ll forever be loyal to this OG. Sure, they’re famous for their congee, but literally everything else from the menu is good that picking a favourite is very hard. Here Are Our Regular Thai Restaurants in Bali Wanaku Make sure you come here with a big group, not only because Chinese food is always better when shared, but also because their dim sum spread is so good you’ll want to order everything on the menu! From classic har gow, siu mai and cheung fun to their tempting mains, there’s plenty to get excited about. But save some room for their onde-onde with lotus paste please please please! Mie means noodles, so Happy Mie literally translates to “happy noodles”, and they do make us happy (from just 30K per portion!) Hehe. If you’re not in the mood for noodles, they’ve also got wonton soup, fried rice, rice with BBQ pork or chicken, and stir-fried mixed vegetables. 📍Google Maps: Happy Mie Image credit: Happy Mie Instagram Wei Fu Dim sum is their main thing - no pork, no lard, and they taste pretty decent. You’ll also find other comforting options on the menu like congee, wonton soup and noodles. Perfect for a casual dim sum fix without spending too much, because they are very affordable. You wouldn’t guess it’s a Chinese restaurant, lol. The interior gives us 90s restaurant vibes, which in our books, is usually a good sign. They’ve also got that classic old-school style menu system; pick your protein (beef, chicken or seafood), then choose how you want it cooked (black pepper, salt and pepper, sweet and sour, and more). Their dim sum menu is pretty complete too. Surely that’s not the reason she likes this restaurant, though (or is it?) Hehe. Anyway, like any good Chinese restaurant, they’ve got both a dim sum menu and a regular menu. If you can handle the heat, give their mala chicken or mala poached chicken a go. They also have mala lamian noodles with chicken or beef, though the original lamian is pretty good too. 📍Google Maps: Pandaloka Lihat post ini di Instagram Wong Fei Hung As they proudly state on their Instagram, they’re a “Pork Specialist”. And boy, do they mean it! Their signature crispy pork belly is the star of the show, but if you’re a pork lover, there’s plenty more to dig into, from pork belly rice and noodles to pork ball soup, pork dumplings, and more. If you're not a big fan of pork they’ve also got chicken, beef and seafood options. There are two Wong Fei Hung locations, so take your pick! 📍Google Maps: Wong Fei Hung Tuban, Sunset Road Lihat post ini di Instagram Double Dragon Temple Noodles and dumplings - we don’t need much to be happy, and this combo already ticks all the boxes! All served in a setting that makes you feel like you’ve stumbled upon a Hong Kong street food stall. They also have buns with pork char siu and black sesame fillings, as well as scallion pancakes. They might sound like they're just little bites, but they're quite filling! This is one of those times when the more really is the merrier! Anyway, we're not claiming to know every Chinese restaurant in Bali (if only eating were a full-time job!), but these are the places that have made it onto our radar, for one reason or another. Beloved Italian Restaurant in Canggu, Luigis Enters a New Era I remember it being part of my younger years in Bali, back when it was just a small space with a little outdoor lawn. It was my go-to for an impromptu pizza. Canggu was quieter, slower, and felt completely different from what it is today. Almost 10 years later, a lot has changed - in Bali, and Canggu in particular. But somehow, Luigis still feels like Luigis, if you know what I mean. It’s been the backdrop for so many late dinners, first dates, bocce games, and random nights. No fuss, no dress code, no trying too hard. Just good pizza, strong drinks, good people, and plenty of memories. Now, Luigis is stepping into a new chapter - like all good businesses should. The place has had a little refresh, but it still feels like the same place we know and love. The Italian-American spirit is still there, inspired by New York slice shops, old-school red sauce joints, and those neighbourhood spots where the personality is just as important as what’s on your plate. As Chef Lorenzo puts it, the idea was never to change what people love about Luigi’s, but to sharpen it. The Napoletana-style pizza is still at the heart of it, now joined by proper sandwiches, good burgers, and plenty of dishes made for sharing. So, shall we dive into the new menu? The drinks menu is led by Luca Marcolin, formerly of Zuma Dubai, with easy-drinking cocktails, ice-cold craft beers, natural wines, and those Luigi's canned serves. Nothing too complicated, no over-the-top garnishes or fancy rituals. Just the kind of drinks you want to have with a pizza, a few friends, and a long night ahead. Beyond the menu Aaaand it’s not just the food and drinks that got a little revamp. The place itself has had a bit of a makeover too, with a refreshed look, a new street-side pizzeria, signature checkerboard tiles, and plenty of comfy booth seating. Outside, the garden is still there - perfect for those long afternoons, cold beers, and a game of bocce with friends. Romanticise your good moments that one day will become "the good ol' days" with soundtracks like The Smiths, The Clash, Kim Wilde - because Luigis has never really been one to follow trends. Last but not least, the weekly rituals Mondays are all about Metto with PNNY, while Wednesdays bring Pasta & Vino - fresh homemade pasta, good wine, and the perfect excuse to break up the week. Fridays are for the DJs take over and carry things from dinner well into the night. So yeah, at the end of the day, Luigis that you love is still here, it isn’t trying to reinvent itself. It’s simply becoming a better, sharper version of the place people have loved all along. Familiar enough for the old regulars, but with plenty of new things to discover.
